Valve has filed a new trademark for computer game software, currently known as “Neon Prime”. Most of the details remain unknown. There are a lot of guesses and ideas about what it will be. While users are speculating on this topic in the forums, let us share with you the information that we know of.
What is known about “Neon Prime”
Two records have been listed on the United States Patent and Trademark Office for “Neon Prime”, filed by Valve in September. The “goods and services” section of one of these Neon Prime records shows that it can be used in “computer game software, electronic game software, video game software, computer game programs downloadable via the internet.”
A Resetera user named “finalflame”, who is thought to be a former Valve employee made a quite remarkable comment about the trademark “Neon Prime”. This comment is as follows: “Hmm wonder if this is finally the FTL-like ship building game we were working on once upon a time, or if that got shelved. I guess time will tell.”
Gabe Newell mentioned about games are in development
Valve co-founder and CEO Gabe Newell said last year that the company had multiple games in development . Also was keen to make more single-player experiences following Half-Life Alyx’s release in March 2020. “We definitely have games in development that we’re going to be announcing — it’s fun to ship games,” he told 1 NEWS. “Neon Prime” can be among these developments.
However, Newell refused to comment on the subject of new Half-Life and Portal games. He said, “I’ve successfully not spoken about those things for a long time and I hope to continue to not talk about them until they are moot questions.” He also mentioned that “the nice thing is, by not answering those questions, I avoid the community coming up with new, equally-difficult-to-answer questions.”
More news from Valve
